First/Last-The Getaway

"The Getaway formed as the brainchild of lead singer, Dion Wiegand, who began writing and performing songs early on. Dion and Corey met at Washington and Jefferson College and started playing together off and on and before they knew it, they had a good sound. They needed to find a drummer, and that's when Corey remembered his good friend from high school, Nate Repp, who was constantly active in the local music circuit. After a month or two of jamming together, the core was rounded out."

The Getaway is an indie alt-rock trio from Pittsburgh who are beginning to make waves here. They released their self-titled debut EP this year and are busy playing around town supporting it. I want to thank Dion Wiegand (Guitar/Lead Vocals) for taking the time to participate in this edition of First/Last.

Favorite thoughts, experiences about Pittsburgh?
I love the size of the city. It's small enough to know your surroundings and how to get around but big enough so that you can always find new things to do. My favorite memories of Pittsburgh include Kennywood in the summer, football season in the fall, snowy Christmases in the winter, and the emergence of nice weather in the spring.

Thanks, Dion. I am really enjoying your stuff, man. Hope to see you play soon.
